EDUCATIONAL ARTISTIC EXPERIENCE

Honolulu Theater for Youth

TEACHING ARTIST

Collaborated with two other teaching artists over the course of a four week summer program. Engaged fifty students in devising and creation of their own performance of traditional Hawaiian and Chinese dragon folktales. Developed lesson plans in accordance with HTY’s procedures that emphasized storytelling, imagination, vocal work, and body movement.

Theater Camp Director

YORK PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT

Devised and ran three different theater camps for children with ages ranging from five to thirteen. The camps focused on devised theater and improvisation skills. Developed lesson plans for groups of over twenty students and then implemented those lesson plans each week. Adapted teaching material and games to account for different levels of experience.

WONDERAMA TV

Conducted Artists and Repertoire by scouting, booking, and corresponding with talent, transcribed closed 
captions for past seasons episodes. Worked behind the scenes as Production Assistant for the duration of filming, interacted with young audience members to create enthusiasm and participation. Worked closely with talent to settle nerves and prepare for performances.

OUTREACH COORDINATOR

Corresponded with members of the production team to devise and write two new Wayang Listrik shows based on Balinese traditions and history and centered around climate change. Created and designed a comprehensive teachers manual to accompany each play. Worked closely with Balinese master artist, I Made Moja, and gamelan musician, Made Widana, to stage and devise the shadow puppetry elements and musical accompaniment. Voiced characters within the show and manipulated multiple puppets during each performance. Organized outreach opportunities with local elementary, middle, and high schools to bring our master artists to showcase Balinese dance and shadow puppetry.
